This is why when he met the young man in the video below during the auditions for X Factor UK, he was a bit put off by the fact that he wasn’t there on his own initiative.
You see, it was actually the man’s long-term girlfriend who had secretly applied in his name online. She was confident that her boyfriend Sam is good enough to make it to the next level of the competition, and she was right.
Despite getting off on the wrong foot, the talented young man managed to deliver a performance that made Simon overlook everything else that he might have disagreed of at first.
Sam pulled off an incredible rendition of singer Dion’s ‘Runaround Sue,’ and left everyone in complete awe.
In addition to his special voice, the judges also appreciated the fact that Sam was willing to take a risk and chose a song that might not be as popular amongst today’s audience as other songs on the radio.
