We all know Great Danes grow into some giants, but this one recently beat the record and became the tallest living dog in the world. Everybody, meet Zeus – officially confirmed the world’s tallest dog by the Guinness World Records.
Zeus is a two-year-old American Great Dane, who lives in Bedford, Texas, with his mom Brittany Davis. Ever since he was a puppy, this gentle giant caught all the eyes as being the biggest dog from a litter of five. Now, he stands 3 feet and 5.18 inches, and makes him the tallest living male dog in the world.
The title is a dream came true, not just for Zeus, but for his beloved owner as well. Brittany has always wanted to have a Great Dane as a furry companion, and now she got the greatest of them!
“He’s been a big dog since we got him, even for a puppy,” the young woman told Guinness World Records. “He had huge paws!”
Although sharing the house with the tallest dog is pretty challenging, Brittany said she got used it, but it feels like he’s another person, and not a dog. On the other hand, despite being more than three feet tall, Zeus is as gentle as a tiny puppy.
“His water bowl is a sink, and he loves to jump onto the fence and talk to the neighbour’s dogs next door,” the owner explained. “He likes to steal the baby’s pacifier off the counters and any food left on the counters is definitely free reign for him.”
But Zeus isn’t just gentle, but also very friendly; and he loves to make friends with everyone, including humans or other animals. At home, he has three others mini Australian Shepherds as companions and a kitten named Penelope. He also loves spending time with the family’s newest member – Brittany’s newborn baby!
A regular day for the world’s tallest dog includes a lot of eating. He eats twelve cups of “Gentle Giants” large breed dog food every single day. But his routine includes a lot of walks as well. Zeus spends his time either playing in the backyard, or visiting a local farm where he’s kind a super-star. Of course, on every occasion people turn their heads around when they see this massive dog.
“We get a lot of comments like ‘Wow, that’s the tallest dog I’ve ever seen’, so it’s cool to now be able to say ‘Yes, it’s definitely the tallest dog you’ve ever seen!’”
Zeus owner said. But Brittany admits she never expected for her puppy to grew so tall. “We never thought we would own the largest living dog,”
she said.
Coincidence or not, the world’s tallest dog ever was also named Zeus, and he was a Great Dane, too, as per the Guinness World Records. He was 44 inches tall and he sadly passed away in 2014.
