The freezing temperatures in Canada brought a lot of joy for skating enthusiast Ryan Peterson. But what proves to be pure happiness for him, turned out to be a completely nightmare for three helpless deer who got themselves stranded on a frozen lake. Thankfully, Ryan isn’t just a talented skater, but also a true animal lover, so he stepped up and rescued the wild animals. The moment was caught on video and went viral after shared online!
During his lunch break, Ryan put on his stakes and went for a skating session on the Lake of the Woods, Ontario. But soon as he got there, he noticed the three deer struggling to stay on their feet. The lake wasn’t completely frozen, and the thin ice could have broke in any moment putting the helpless animals in real danger. Aware of the danger, the kind man knew he had to do something, and he had to do it fast.
Since any rescue involving vehicles was impossible due to the thin ice, Ryan knew that the only way to take the deer on dry land would be a rope, so he run back to work, grabbed on and came back for the rescue.
“I went back to work and grabbed some rope. The ice was still too thin for any kind of vehicle, so skating was the only option,” the Good Samaritan told THE GUARDIAN. “They were still in the same place, when I came back.”
The skater carefully approached the confused animals, and put the rope around their neck, then pulled them back to safety. Soon as they felt safety on dry land, they lost their ways back in the woods.
It is unclear how the three wild animals ended up in the middle of the frozen lake, but one thing is certain – they got a second chance, thanks to this caring man. “I’m not entirely sure how they walked all the way out there,” Ryan said. “But they definitely walked out there.”
