The image of a little girl playing with a huge pile of cash may raise an eyebrow or two, but just wait until you find out the story behind this possibly controversial image.
The little girl named Addie was born with Larsen syndrome, a rare condition which causes abnormal development of the bones. Because of it, little Addie spending most of her young life at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Always next to her was mom Julie who never left her side.
So far, Addie changed around 60 or 70 casts fitted onto her legs. On top of that, Addie underwent four surgeries for her legs which were backwards when she was born. After years and years of expensive treatments and medical procedures, Addie’s family could no longer afford to pay for the medical care she needed.
Luckily, doctors and medical staff at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital continue to take care of her, for free. And now, eight years after she was born, Addie is more independent than anyone ever hoped for. She can do things that surpassed everyone’s expectations. So the girl wanted to do something to repay the hospital that fixed her backwards knees, and here’s what she did:
