Ever heard of blooms? Well, according to the caption that accompanies this clip on YouTube, blooms are 3-D printed sculptures designed to animate when spun under a strobe light. At first glance, the white sculptures look pretty similar to other 3-D white printed sculptures, but the true magic happens when they start spinning and moving around.
The man behind this fascination creation is an artist named John Edmark. His sculptures wiggle, wobble, and twist before your eyes like some sort of alien creature, making you seriously doubt your senses. But although it may be hard to believe, everything you see in the video below are in fact real objects.
The secret to them looking this way is a combination of trick photography and some heady mathematics thrown in for good measure. The result, as you can see, is mind-boggling.
I’m always surprised by the creativity of the human spirit and what it can achieve. These sculptures are definitely one of a kind and not something you get to see every day, so if you have a second to spare and want to share this art form with other who might like it as well, hit that Share button.
