Born in April 1933, Willie Hugh Nelson is without a doubt one of the most popular American singers of all times. The highly-acclaimed popularity of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), helped him become one of the most recognized artists in country music..
But Nelson is more than a singer. He’s also known success as a poet and actor, having acted in more than 30 films. He’s also known for his activism and strong views. Needless to say, Nelson has a lot of amazing qualities for which so many people across the world love and appreciate him.
And luckily, Nelson passed many of those qualities to his son, Lukas Nelson. In a surprising performance during a “jam session,” the young man can be seen in the video below as he takes over the microphone and belts out an unexpected rendition of one of his father’s best songs, “Always on My Mind.
Listening to his incredible voice and seeing how passionate he is about expressing himself through music, it’s safe to say the apple didn’t fall far from the tree in this case.
