Having a deer for a pet might sound a tad unusual, but for this family it’s the best choice they’ve ever made. It all started in the summer of 2014 when veterinarian Melanie Butera received an unexpected patient. It was a blind deer named Dillie. The deer was in terrible condition and was on the brink of death. But Melanie wasn’t willing to give up on the fragile deer, so she and her husband brought Dillie into their home and nursed her back to health. Now, Dillie is a healthy, happy deer.
